Q&A with Elizabeth: New Crawler

Posted by in No-Cry Discipline

Our home has been childproofed, but my wife still insists we track our newly-crawling baby around the house every second. Is that really necessary? ~ Cal, father to 10-month-old Ayden

No matter how much time and effort you put into your home safety efforts, you can never create a 100% safe environment for your active baby. The possibilities for a curious and mobile baby to get into trouble are endless, and you can’t foresee every possible situation your child will create and the resulting dangers. A friend of mine put his head down to work on paperwork for five minutes, only to look up and discover his little one digging around in the (luckily cold!) fireplace ashes! Bottom line: Yes, it’s exhausting! But the most important key to keeping your baby safe is constant supervision.
